With a lifelong love of architecture, design and the creative process, Don Mertes entered the field of Real Estate as a natural progression of his life’s passion. Originally from Illinois, Don came to the valley in 1996 and has honed his interest for historic properties and a love of the downtown “buzz” into a successful career. Mertes has been a steady and trustworthy proponent for the “urban lifestyle” that the City of Phoenix offers. 6 years ago, Don developed HistoricPhoenix.com, a large website that extends a large collection of informative articles and information on the downtown Real Estate Market.  Since its inception, historicphoenix.com has become one of the area’s most widely used websites with a current subscription of over 5600 members. Mertes is very involved with several community programs and has taken part in the organization and implementation of various fundraising events.  Clients of the downtown team have appreciated and relied on the negotiation skills and “no-nonsense” knowledge imparted by Don of the different neighborhoods, home styles and property values.
